About E-Learning: How is audio best
integrated into an e-learning environment?
Audio is
best integrated into an e-learning environment using MP3 or Flash audio
formats. Flash audio is ideal in that the audio can be made to stream, and
therefore does not require buffering of the audio file…Flash audio provides “audio
on demand”. In either case, audio files should incorporate an audio player that
allows the student to stop and rewind the audio. In general, audio files should
not auto-play since the student may not have his or her computer’s audio turned
on. It is best to keep audio files in segments of five minutes or less. It is
better to have multiple audio files of short length than one long audio file.
